Our Story

The Little Missouri Saloon is more than just a bar – it’s a legendary gathering place, steeped in the rugged history of the American West. As one of the oldest saloons in the state, it has long been a favorite watering hole for cowboys, ranchers and rodeo champions, who for generations have swapped stories over stiff drinks and hearty meals.  Perched in the heart of Medora, our historic patio has even played host to authors penning books about Teddy Roosevelt, inspired by the same wild frontier that once shaped the Rough Rider himself.

Today, local businessman Jim Bridger proudly owns the Little Missouri Saloon, transforming it into a family-friendly restaurant and event space where all are welcome. While the upstairs serves as a lively hub for great food and good company, the spirit of the Old West is alive and well in our downstairs bar and casino – a space where the echoes of boot stomps and laughter from a bygone era still resonate. Whether you're here for a meal, a drink or a piece of history, the Little Missouri Saloon remains a true slice of the wild, untamed West.

"After a long day of driving, we stopped here for a well-deserved meal. We shared the crispy Country Fried Steak, perfectly paired with a rich gravy, and the juicy Swiss Burger. Both dishes hit the spot. The friendly and attentive staff made our dining experience even more enjoyable. The cozy atmosphere provided a much-needed respite after a long day on the road."

"Looking for a good burger and outdoor seating with good views? This is your place! It was a warm evening but we sat outside on their upper patio and we were in the shade with a nice breeze. Ava was our server and she was working hard…and doing a great job. We both had cheeseburgers (cooked perfectly and the bun was delicious). Hubby got fries and I got onion rings and they were cooked just like we like them. They also have a full bar - I tried the Huckleberry Mule - perfect for a hot day!"
